How to Hire a Green Cleaning Company on Cape Cod

There are several "Green Cleaning" services on Cape Cod. Here's how to be sure you aren't being "greenwashed".

With the surge of green cleaning products and green cleaning services flooding the marketplace how can you know that you aren’t getting “greenwashed”? “Greenwashing” is a term that describes a company’s efforts to misinform customers and promote false claims about the environmental benefits of an advertised green product or service.

The following video from Maid Brigade gives a good explanation of the term greenwashing and things to ask your house cleaning or maid service to see if they are really green cleaning. Ask if the cleaning products they use are green certified. Ask if the vacuums they use are certified for filtration and capture of allergens like pollen and other allergy causing dust. Ask about the cleaning cloths they use and whether they are reusable microfiber cleaning cloths. Ask if the employees are trained in the proper use of green cleaning products.

There is also a hiring a green cleaning company checklist that you can download and use while seeking out a truly green cleaning company (PDF).
